"Attestation" gets used loosely to mean several different things depending on who is asking for it. Here is what we actually do at our counter, and where it fits if your document needs to go further — to an apostille or an embassy.
What we attest

- True copies of original certificates against the original
- Documents that are a first step before further authentication (apostille or embassy) for use abroad
Where this fits if the document is going abroad
For documents headed overseas — for a visa, education, or employment abroad — notarial attestation is usually the first step. Many countries then require the document to go further: either an apostille from the Ministry of External Affairs (for Hague Convention countries) or embassy attestation (for non-Hague countries). What to bring
The original document plus a photocopy for true-copy attestation, and original photo ID. For signature attestation on a document you are signing, bring it unsigned so the signature happens in front of us.
