When embassy attestation is needed instead of an apostille
If the destination country is not a party to the Hague Apostille Convention, an apostille is not accepted there — the document instead needs to be attested by that country's embassy or consulate in India, sometimes after prior state or MEA-level authentication. Which route applies depends entirely on the destination country, so this is the first thing to confirm before starting any paperwork.
