A "true copy" is a photocopy that has been checked against the original and certified as an accurate reproduction of it. Institutions ask for this specifically so they can accept a copy without needing to hold onto your original.

When this is asked for

  • College or university admissions requiring attested copies of certificates
  • Visa applications needing certified copies of educational or identity documents
  • Bank loan applications asking for attested copies of property or income documents
  • Job applications requiring certified copies of degrees and experience letters

How it works

Bring the original document and a photocopy — we compare them, and if they match exactly, the notary certifies the copy as a true copy of the original, with a stamp, signature and date. We do not certify a copy without seeing the original alongside it.

How many copies do you need?

Check with the institution asking for it — some want one attested copy, others want several. It is cheaper and faster to certify all the copies you need in one visit than to come back for more later.
