Banks and institutions ask for an electricity bill or rental agreement as address proof, but plenty of people genuinely do not have either in their own name — living with parents, in-laws, or a relative. An address proof affidavit is the standard workaround for exactly that situation.

When this is used

  • Bank account opening or KYC update when no utility bill exists in your name
  • Voter ID or Aadhaar address update where you live with family
  • School or college admission requiring local address proof
  • Passport application address verification

What it states

The affidavit declares your current residential address and, typically, your relationship to the property or its listed owner (for example, "residing with my father, the registered owner of the property"). Where the receiving institution asks for it, we also draft a No Objection statement from the property owner alongside it.

What to bring

Your Aadhaar, the property owner's ID and, if available, a document showing the owner's name against the address (electricity bill, property tax receipt, or sale deed) to support the affidavit.
